This was my 5th show for this tour and the home town show for me. I saw the show in Milan II, Chicago I & II, and Las Vegas. The show has evolved from last summer in Milan. That is the beauty of seeing many shows. There is a set list that remains intact, but songs are added and deleted based on the whims of the band at the moment/city they are playing in. Fortunately, I got to hear Electrical Storm, Your Blue Room and Bad. I felt the band should have played at least one of those gems in Los Angeles, but probably didn't because they chose the radio friendly older songs over the unknown tunes for the star studded event.
I was in the GA line and as discussed above, it was a nightmare. I was admitted into the stadium with about the first 30-40 people. What a lot of people don't know when the the GA line was let in, is just how many people were already inside the stadium at the rails inside and out because they were special guests/friends etc. of event people. I choose to stand at the rail of the outer ring - center stage, and there were so many people already there. I had to stand just behind them. I wasn't very happy about the spot after waiting in line for over 12 hours. But, I guess that is the way it goes when you have friends working for the event.....
I enjoyed the Black Eyed Peas - their music was energetic and Slash took their opening act to a higher level.
The U2 show was special to me. I got lost in the music singing and dancing. U2 transported me to another place. I was there to enjoy their music live and determined to let nothing interfere. They played and Bono sang a few songs better in Las Vegas just two nights before, but the energy of the Rose Bowl show was better for me. I didn't think the crowd was "loud", the crowd singing was barely audible from where I was standing, but the atmosphere of close to 100,000 people was breath-taking. I go to the concerts to hear U2 live. I listen to their music in my car while driving to clients for work daily so I am familiar with all of their songs, but nothing compares to their music live. Bono is human and his voice can be up and down on some songs. He was out of breath a lot at the Rose Bowl I noticed, but I really don't care. I don't expect perfection, I expect heart and soul, and U2 have plenty of heart and soul. I go to listen and feel the live concerts. Their concerts never fail to move me emotionally. I found what I was looking for this tour and I hope to hear many, many more live concerts. As long as they play I will go. Their music definitely fulfills a place in my heart and soul.
