360 Degree Tour : Snow Patrol opening then U2 main act...
When I saw the claw and stage design, I can tell Willie Williams has outdone himself yet again. I am certainly familar with Willie's work as he has done some stage designs for my favorite artist Darren Hayes (from Savage Garden) among many other brilliant artists.
Snow Patrol is an act i've wanted to see for a long time. Last time they were to be in Michigan a few years back and I had a ticket, lead singer Gary Lightbody was unable to sing due to illness. Now this time, I am glad I got to see them, and I was not disappointed 1 bit. He and the band were certain very happy to be opening for U2, and the crowd certainly was paying them a good deal of mind. Lead singer Gary was even wearing a Chicago Bears football tee which certainly pleased the fans who were local. I am sure i will edit the blog later with a set list of some kind but the highlights for me for the opening act were "Chocolate" "Shut Your Eyes" "Chasing Cars" and "You're All I Have".
After Snow Patrol left the stage, it was prepared for U2, then the moment came for the 4 band members to take the stage, first Adam, Larry and the Edge, then last but no means least, Bono. I am sure on some site will be a proper set list done. The concert drew from 20+ years of albums, including the recent released album No Line On The Horizon. They kept people going from start to finish, and it was in ONE word MAGNIFICIENT. It was also my first U2 experience as I've only seen them on dvd.
Here is a bit of a setlist of what I can best remember, and the songs that stood out for me:
"Get On Your Boots"
"Magnificient"
"I'll Go Crazy.."
"City of blinding lights"
"Unknown Caller"
"Sunday Bloody Sunday" (with a video screen tribute to those in Iran who fought for voting rights etc)
"Elevation"
"I Still havent found..."
"Pride in the name of love"
"Vertigo"
"Walk On" (with an amazing video screen and a group of volunteers with masks in tribute to Aung Su Kyi - cant spell her name but she is a nobel peace prize winner under house arrest in Burma)
"Beautiful Day"
"Where The Streets Have No Name"
"Ultra Violet (light my way)"
