I went to both shows here in LA and I'm still on fire about just how good U2 is live, especially last night. While the 1st show was good, last night's show was one of the best rock concerts I have seen.
Bono's voice was so strong and clear, just really powerful. The Edge is a musical genius, he ripped the guitar, played keyboards and I have to agree with another reviewer that his voice sounded exceptional as well. Adam cruised the stage and ellipse smiling and really enjoying it and sitting right behind Larry you could tell he was very into as well.
I think COBL is a better opening than Love and Peace which fit in better in the middle of the show...the confetti coming down really starts the show off right.
Vertigo is quickly becoming a crowd favorite and I really liked the sing along / no music beginning to Elevation, very cool. Great opening set.
Bono was even more personable last night, feeding I think off the much better energy from the crowd. The Chili Peppers drop in was great as was Unchained Melody in the dark after one. He hammed it up quite a bit with the crowd. Bono handled the bountifully blessed stage crasher so well, it was a very funny few minutes Bono capturing it perfectly saying "it's allright, we are in LA afterall"...After the song he was laughing very hard as he exited down the back of the stage for the first break.
Highlights of the rest of the show were Miracle Drug (sounds great live) with the Pope tribute, Bono's vocals on Sometimes, Streets with the house lights on, the place just rocking. Bono and the Edge had a lot of fun on Zoo Station and I agree it should stay in, very entertaining...
The final encore is a keeper in my opinion, All Because of You is a good rocking song and you can tell they enjoy playing it...Yaweh acoustic is very good, even with Bono flubbing the first verse and then going back over it...40 with Adam and the Edge swtiching instruments and walking off the stage was cool and classy...
Great Show - Go see them if you can - hope you get as good a show as we did last night.
Can't wait until November.
Love and Peace
