First of all, in response to Robert's review, he couldn't be more wrong:
1. One of the key elements and appeal to Interpol's style and fanbase (the opening band) is the frontman's vocal style. You say "monotone", I say paying homage to one Ian Curtis - despite the band claiming little or no Joy Division influence.
2. U2 were not late. They started right at 9:00 pm. I recall because my friend and I had our cell phones out at the same time.
3. You paid $220 for a ticket?! Too bad for you. Get your tickets early. Get them the day - the minute - they go onsale to the public. I paid $55 for mine and had a great time.
Now for my review:
Of the 3 U2 shows I've been to (United Center in Chicago - 2001, and Target Center in Minneapolis - 2005) this was the best show/setlist/performance of the band I've witnessed. As a die-hard fan, I actually appreciated that they abandoned some of their regular 1980s material for deep cuts like 1993's "Zooropa", 1995's Passengers side project "Miss Sarajevo" and the 1995 summer hit "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me".
Edge's guitar remote did malfunction (probably due to the weather) at a crucial point during "Until The End Of The World", but what can you do? And the band recovered well from it, thanks to guitar tech Dallas. I will admit the pouring rain was extremely frustrating for me - especially for the 2nd half - but it tested the band and they came through 100%. Kudos to them. They gave their all. One wouldn't believe that these guys are in their 50s.
Epic!!! A+
