This show was AWESOME. This was my sixth U2 show and it was the best one on this tour by far in Boston and maybe the best one I've seen from the last 3 tours. I was on the floor 4-5 rows back outside the circle a little to the left. Tom Brady (New England Patriots Quarterback) and John Kerry (Massachusetts State Senator/Presidential Candidate) were at the show and relatively close to where we were. I saw them both walk in. Show was 2 hours and 10 minutes long. U2 and the crowd were both pumped up for this one.
Here's the setlist and comments:
City of Blinding Lights
Vertigo
Elevation - brings pregnant woman that Bono called a 'Sexy Mama' on stage who had sign 'Baby in my belly wants to dance with Bono'
Cry / Electric Co. - goes into a little Smashing Pumpkins 'Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage'
The Ocean
Still Haven’t Found - thanks opening group Keane at beginning
Beautiful Day
Miracle Drug - dedicated to a couple of doctors present at the show
Sometimes You Can’t Make it on Your Own - dedicated to his dad as usual
Love and Peace or Else - Larry breaks drumstick, plays with one stick for a minute
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Bullet The Blue Sky
Miss Sarajevo - Bono sings Pavorotti parts - best voice I've heard from him in quite a while
Pride in the Name of Love - Bono coughs, loses his voice for a verse (probably overdid it in last song)
Where the Streets Have No Name - crowd is absolutely nuts, Bono is amazed with crowd at end of song
One - talk about John Kerry's help with One Campaign
MLK - official set list missed this one
First Time - acoustic - Edge and Bono only - crowd sings "love love" with Bono
Wild Horses - acoustic
With or Without You - acoustic - brings girl on stage who hugs Bono for about the entire song
All Because of You - this was done on camera for some award in the UK they said.
Yahweh - acoustic - Bono wears Red Sox shirt and talks about Tom Brady in the crowd before song and how the Edge supposedly did NOT bet for the Rams in the Super Bowl when the Pats won the first time (U2 played the halftime show then)
40 - Bono leaves Red Sox shirt on microphone stand, Larry puts it on at the end. Bono shines spotlight into crowd.
