Went to concert in Sydney last night.
First half was sensational and unforgettable.
Downers:
Then we recieved a lecture on poverty and war. Bono encouraged the crowd to do an SMS stunt. I didn't participate but will raise issue with local MP. I felt like that stunt was aimed at teenagers. Bono - most of us are a lot older and lot more cynical about these approaches. Most of the crowd were over 30. My teenager reponse then is "Yeah, whatever!"
Anyway the last half of the show was flat compared to first half. It finished with a whimper. Most of the crowd were talking down the second half. The band seemed to lose its way. I was waiting for a big finish which didn't eventuate.
We had seats way up the back. The sound reverberated too much for the ticket prices.
Good points: The crowd were excellent, light show was fantastic and again the first half was unforgettable. Glad I went
