Last night was my first time seeing the band since the Zoo tour. (I first saw them during the Unforgettable Fire tour in Florida.) The boys can still rock. It was a great show.
Gloria was stunning. Ditto for Elevation, With or Without You, and Where The Streets Have No Name.
From where we sat (2/3 of the way back on the first level), Zoo Station and The Fly sounded almost unrecognizeable. The sound on those was really bad. They were the big disappointments.
I would have enjoyed seeing the boys on the Ellipse a bit more. Bono on the drums on the Ellipse was a treat.
I thought the selections from the new CD were all very good. Love and Peace or Else was my favorite live last night.
I really had my hopes set on hearing 40 to end the show, and they didn't disappoint. From the rumors on the radio on the way home, it sounded like Bad was penciled in as the finale. The boys exchanged some words on stage before finishing with 40. Good last minute change! I hadn't heard 40 live since the first time I saw them in Florida.
Those who have tickets for upcoming shows around the globe are in for a treat.
Enjoy.
