Sunday night's show was a good show, but not a great show. The song selection was as advertised, but there was too much influence on the deafening bass and instrumentals and not enough emphasis on the most important thing- the vocals. I went with some friends who had never seen U2 live and we just couldn't hear what Bono was saying half the time. In the beginning the sound was too grainy or drowned out by the bass and in the end the humming feedback almost ruined such great hits as With or Without You. That being said, the group truly kicked butt when they need to. The other main problem was the preaching involved. Now even if I thought that we should give millions and billions to underpriviliged countries instead of taking care of our own battles (like homeless vets and education), just play the music and dont come to us for a handout. I was ok with everything Bono said and did until he basically demanded us to text to his cause-not that i think its a bad cause but its not the right time or place. Rest assured my phone stayed in my pocket. BUT the show was a GOOD show- the band intereacted with the crowd, played for over two hours and left its mark on us all...but the show definitely wasn't one for the ages. I just wish I had seen them in the 80's when it was just about the MUSIC. Later.
