I saw U2 in Miami, at the Sunday night show, or the Fan Club show, as I like to call it. U2 also played Monday night but only the Sunday night show was available for the pre-sale. Thus... I would guess nearly everyone in the GA line had fan club tickets. The AAA security figured this out eventually and ditched the two-line format to enter the stadium.
My friend and I were around #400 in line. His ticket didn't scan for the Ellipse but mine did. It was the first time for either of us inside the stage (Elevation or Vertigo) and it was truly amazing.
We were just left of center about four people behind the rail, pretty much ideal. We were so close that we couldn't even see the video screens if we looked straight up.
I saw U2 a couple of weeks ago in Houston (my seat was behind the stage that night) and I can say without a doubt that the crowd in Miami absolutely blew Houston away. All throughout the Houston show, people were walking around to the exits and sitting down and not paying attention. At the Miami show, it was just deafening inside. Obviously, my perspective was different. But whenever I looked up at the far corners of the stadium, people were dancing and there wasn't an empty seat, far different from the Houston show. Oh, and the Miami crowd actually showed up on time. Maybe that had something to do with Gavin Rossdale's Institute being better ( I thought they were really good and the crowd was very appreciative) at getting people fired up than Damien Marley.
The personal highlight of mine was definitely "Wild Horses" which was the only song of the night that I had not seen live before (this being my 5th show). "City of Blinding Lights" was really magical from the GA as the confetti falls all around and there's hardly a moment to catch your breath until Bono drops the shades for "Sometimes you Can't Make it on your Own."
Overall, I was very pleased with the setlist and the band seemed genuinely blown away by the enthusiasm and loudness of the crowd. I could see all four of them smiling and laughing and having a great time on stage. I even saw Larry singing along several times to himself. Just some of the great benefits of being ridiculously close for the greatest rock show on Earth.
