First off, there was a new opening act--Fun Lovin' Criminals. I was very impressed! I was prepared for Rage's noise and what I got was 10x better. They reminded me of 311 but toned down about 6 notches.
On to better things--U2 was fantastic! The set list followed most of the others with a few exceptions. There was no "Daydream Believer" this time but we did get to sing along with Bono to "Sweet Caroline". Bono performed "Stand By Me", but stopped and laughed when the crowd got so involved singing that no one noticed when he wasn't. I didn't hear any hint of "Sunday, Bloody Sunday" during "Please", but that might have been a result of crowd noise.
The overall performance was incredible. Bono's singing was clear and he had no problems with his voice at all. The band had it completely together -- no mistakes that were obvious to me. Bono messed up on the words to "One" but he's great at improvisation so it didn't matter. The stage and screen were awesome and the disco ball lemon was a show-stopper. The crowd was very involved, although they did not get into the newer songs as much as the classics. Bono spoke to the crowd quite a bit, but it was hard to understand over the noise. Song highlights included: Please, HMTMKMKM, With or Without You, & Discotheque.
Security was very lax. No metal detectors, no intense searches. I carried a disposable camera in and took 2 dozen pictures. I don't have a scanner so I can't put them on-line. If you have any suggestions let me know.
I didn't know how this show could compare to ZooTV, but it surpassed all of my expectations! It was worth every cent of the $52.50 each for 2 tickets (plus handler's fee), $9 for parking, gas money, food money, & T-shirts (2 at $25). I would do it all over again if I just had the cash!! :-D
