Upon entering the stadium I was utterly amazed at the magical arch. The Fun Lovin' Criminals got things started, and left little to be desired of the unheard of before jazz band.
Next was U2, who took the music to another level. An enthusiastic crowd of 30,000 was jumping on there seats upon the opening song, Mofo, where Bono was clad in an Sugar Ray Leonard outfit. Secondly the band played an early rendition of "I Will Follow" that satsified all those die hard U2 fans. I must say that hits of the night were, "Where the Streets Have No Names", "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", and "Miami" off the latest album "Pop" in which a woman from the crowd was called out by Bono, dreessed like Malcom McDowell from "A Clockwork Orange", to dance tenderly.
The Encore included "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me", "Mysterious Ways" and the seemingly fitting closer, "One". In what seemed to be a show based around The Edge, I believe Larry Mullen Jr took the show. It was seen on the 150X50 foot TV screen that he was right on target with every beat. The thing that took away from the show was the absence of U2's next release, "Do You Feel Loved". Tuesday, Bono and the band was said to have been recording the video for that song. The night was surely one of "unforgettable fire."
