I went to Hamilton last night for the U2 show - my first time and it was wonderful!!!!! The best part was when Bono saw this guy holding up a sign that said something like "I play guitar" and Bono grabbed him and pulled him up on the ramp, and gave him a guitar. They were about to do "People Get Ready" and Bono told him the chord changes, but the kid was so nervous he kept making mistakes - poor guy! Anyway, Edge came over, and then the three of them went back to the front of the stage and Bono gave the kid his mike. Lucky dog!
Unfortunately, I was up high, in the stands, so I couldn't make out a lot of what Bono was saying during the show.
Setlist...
Elevation (people were jumping up and down during the "woooo!" 's . Awesome)
Beautiful Day (during the chorus the lights were arranged in a huge splash so that it looked like daybreak)
Until the End of the World (Bono and Edge pretended to fight and Bono jokingly fell over)
New Year's Day (awesome)
Out of Control (great!!!!!)
Sunday Bloody Sunday (at the end of this Bono held the Stars and Stripes for a good couple of minutes)
When Will I See You Again / Stuck In a Moment
Kite,
Angel of Harlem,
People Get Ready,
Staring at the Sun (acoustic campfire style)
Bad/40 (the segue into 40 fit perfectly)
Where the Streets Have No Name
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
Pride
Encore:
Bullet the Blue Sky (this song has always scared the hell out of me, lol)
What's Going On
New York (wonderful - with changed lyrics - "city's will" instead of "Alphaville", "in New York I found some friends", "religious nuts, political fanatics don't belong...", "I lost my balance, you lost your wife in the queue for the lifeboats")
With or Without You
Second Encore:
One - the complete lists of the four hijacked airplane crews and passengers were scrolled on the video screen - great tribute.
Peace on Earth / Walk On- great finale
All in all, awesome show! The visuals were a show in itself, too! The only thing I didn't like was that they didn't play I Will Follow or The Sweetest Thing, but you can't play 'em all! I hope they do another album and tour very soon so I can see them again! LOL
Well worth the 2 1/2 drive over the border to see them. Great atmosphere, the energy radiating from the band, crowd was spectacular.
