What a night! What a show! Having just arrived back to Dublin from Koh Samui I was fearing that I'd be wrecked and wouldn't be able to enjoy the show as much as the other concerts I'd been to (Point 30-12-1989, Pairc Ui Chaoimh 24-08-1993, Lansdowne Road 30 and 31 -08-1997, Earls Court 19-08-2001, Slane 25-08-2001).
But the adrenaline and the performance of U2 put paid to that. From the off, they really rocked with a lot of up-tempo tracks - vertigo - control, elec co were brilliant opening. I loved the reworking of Elevation and so did the 80,000 others I guess.
The lights came up with City Of Blinding Lights and were fab. The band was in great form, as they riiped through new songs and old. By the end of the main set, I was elated.
But, the encore was just incredible. I loved Zoo Station and The Fly. Party Girl was a nice surprise - even nicer for Matt from Canada!! Lucky man! I loved the acoustic version of Yahweh too - it was a nice surprise! My brother Alan, friend Neil and my wife Terrie were all really happy by the end.
