Boston 1st Night:
This was a solid U2 show. But I have to admit I was a bit disappointed. This was my 14th U2 show since '87 so I have a good perspective. There really was nothing tremendously remarkable about the show and that is what bothers me a bit. I'm sure my vantage point had something to do with it as I was in the 3rd balcony but on top of the stage next to Adam. The sound is just not the same up there. In '01 I was on the floor for 1 show and in the 3rd balcony for another and I felt the same then: sound quality top notch on the floor but horrible up top. I really wish some songs would be retired or only played ocassionaly (SBS, Streets, Bullet) but it was a real treat to hear Electric Co., The Ocean and 40.
I was disappointed in some of the arrangements of songs. Yaweh just didn't have that great sense of grace live. Zoo Station, one of my all time favorite songs seemed flat as did The Fly (another all time favorite).
Don't mean to sound so negative but I'm hoping for a better all-around experience this fall.
