Well, I just got back from the show. And what a show it was! after a (too long, irritating) support act, Kelis, the guys entered the stage at about 21.10.
Everybody woke up as 70' hit Higher and higher sounded from the speakers followed by the Beatles 'Sgt Peppers Lonely Heart's Club Band' (the show is about to begin ;-) and as they heard the first tones of the Elevation Remix, U2 started Elevation. And the crowd went crazy. and so went I.
After Elevation, Beautiful Day and until the End of the World. During End of the World Bono invited a photojournalist on stage to take pictures, and he invited 6 other journalist who followed Bono as he walked around the heart-shaped catwalk. He acted like a monkey and a mannequin as the journalists took pictures of him. After that He started a kinda duel with The Edge. In a 'I am not worthy'-style, he bowed for Edge as one of the coolest guitar parts of the concert was played.
After this (first) highlight, they playes Pride (in the name of love), Kite (very beautiful), Gone, New York, Out of control (sounded fantastic) Sunday Bloody Sunday (a snippet of Bob Marleys 'get up, stand up' was added at the end of this song.
Then Bono sang When I Get Home, after that U2 played Stuck in a moment for Anton Corbijn. After that ín a little while was dedicated to Dutch artist/painter Herman Brood, who jumped off a roof few weeks ago, Stay (faraway so close) the acoustic version, Bad/40 40 was added for Larry.
After that Where the STreets have no name began. I heard the first tones of the song and I went totally crazy. I love this song.
Mysterious ways followed after that. A girl climbed up on stage and started dancing with Bono, but she ran away to the main stage, leaving Bono behind, puzzled. that was a cool moment.
The Fly was fantastic! Bono ran around the heart and in the end he ran into the coloured screen (like a fly)
After that the encore started with Bullet The Blue sky, with or without you, One. one always brings me shivers down my spine, but I have my own personal reasons for that IZ)
After One, bono thanked the Dutch crowd for their support during the Popmart tour, back in '97. After that, the show ended with Walk On. Leaving the crowd behind with Herman Brood's 'My Way'. I've never seen a show like this before. Next time I'll be there.
How long do we sing this song?
