Once again U2 puts on a spectular show. It was a perfect mix of music, energy, lighting, and spectacle. It's incredible that these guys can consistently exude that kind of energy while touring. A few thoughts.
- The setlist was great, even though we were shorted a song from the previous night. My disappointment of not hearing Electric Co. and Zoo Station were easily erased by the inclusion of Bad. Some of the new material, that I wasn't really very excited about, really came to life when performed live...especially City of Blinding Lights.
- I thought the crowd could have been alittle more receptive. After a very strong opening 5 or 6 songs the crowd kind of fell into a lull, I guess 15,000 fans have trouble keeping up with middle aged Irish men. It was very interesting to see several generations represented tonight.
- I very much like the fact that the band has a more flexible setlist this tour. These back to back shows really open up the catalog and give fans access to some forgotten gems. Tonight these gems came in the form of Gloria and Running to Stand Still.
- The arena was a great venue. Even though we were in the upper deck we were still able to see and hear the band. The acoustics were great, the only song that sounded strange were parts of "Running."
- I don't think the show was as political as some reviewers had made it out to be.
All in all a great show and very much worth the price of admission. I sure hope that someone recorded the show. If you did, please post some audio.
