This show was the most awsome experience I’ve ever had, I felt 100% pure happiness…
Despite Bono’s voice just beeing almost perfect (Edge had to help him out a few times) he made an awsome performance. The rest of the band were absolutely perfect as always. They all seemed truly happy; smiled a lot, talked a lot, and did a few (what at least seemed to be) improvised sets.
The show started of just like the rest of them with ELEVATION, BEAUTIFUL DAY and UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD then they played NEW YEARS DAY and from that moment the setlist was totally different from what I expected. They swapped I WILL FOLLOW for OUT OF CONTROL, out at the top of the heart Bono and the Edge played THE GROUND BENATHE HER FEET instead of STAY and suddenly the whole band was at the top of the heart with acustic instruments playing DESIRE; absolutely fantastic. Larry and Adam went back to the stage and instead of BAD they played ALL I WANT IS YOU, with at least 10-15 ”All I want is youuuuuuhuuu” at the end with the entire Globe arena singing along really, really loud until eventually the intro to WHERE THE STREETS HAVE NO NAME started. I’ve never been closer total extercy, almost a religious feeling!
SUNDAY, NEW YEARS DAY, MYSTERIOUS WAYS, BULLET THE BLUE SKY, WITH OR WITHOUT YOU and ONE were as great as ever. The version they’re doing of THE FLY is just so f**** good, I couldn’t stop jumping and headbanging. The new songs (NEW YORK, KITE, STUCK IN A MOMENT, WALK ON…) are good but doesn’t hit the same nerve (yet) as the older ones. They also skipped PRIDE and STILL HAVEN’T FOUND but I didn’t miss them. Between ONE and WALK ON Bono and the Edge played a fantastic, perfect, and beautiful WAKE UP DEAD MAN.
All in all the concert was perhaps the best two hours of my life, the perfection, the energy, and the intimicy with the band just blew my mind! I just wish they would rediscover ULTRA VIOLET (light my way) and do to it what they’ve done to THE FLY, UV is an ungrinded diamond!
Thanks!
Johan
