by Scott & Bridgette
This U2 concert had special meaning for us, not only because it was our first but also because we were celebrating our 11th wedding anniversary. Scott surprized me with the tickets and we were about seven rows from the floor. The view was great.
From the moment the band members stepped onto the stage the entire crowd was on their feet and stayed that way until after the 3rd oncore. I ended up taking off the high heels because my feet were killing me because of all the dancing and jumping around. We really could feel all of the energy that flowed form Bono and the rest of the guys. The 4 tv screens that individually pictured each of the band members added a special touch. We sang every song at the top of our lungs along with every other person in the Ice Palace.
Bono and Edge took the time to relate to a few lucky fans by wearing the NY shirt, holding the US/Ireland flag, and even read aloud a fans's banner that read that they were all guitar players. Edge enjoyed that one. The floor was a sea of bouncing, hand waving fans. There were girl fans that were even on the shoulders of I'm sure; uncomfortable male fans. We were lucky to have met alot of really nice U2 fans that sat all around us. We all came together as one people, U2 fans, and one free country!
My heart aches over what happened on 9/11 however no one yet or probrobly ever will graciously provide the tribute that was given tonight to the victims from U2. I felt almost to tears the entire concert and I know that even when Scott and I are 80 we will still remember this concert. We own almost all of the CD's that U2 has produced but today they all have a special meaning to the both of us.
Thanks U2 for a wonderful night of music, fun, and rememberance. Get some rest and enjoy some time off. We will see you next time and please keep Tampa on future concert dates. Fans here love and appreciate all that you are and do.
