I saw my first U2 shows last tour when I went to 2 Oakland, 2 San Jose, Chicago and Sacramento....all were much much better then this one. I brought a few new people that had never seen them live promising how great it would be...kind of a let down in my opinion. Not bad, but about a C+ performace all around. we were on the floor and Bono very rarely came to the tip of the heart or whatever you want to call it to sing. Last tour I remember him out there a lot more and signing passionately to the audience which was awesome to watch/hear. Last night he came out for a couple of phrases and then back. The drum thing for Love & Peace was cool. I expected more lights, theatrics, etc...more fan interaction. Songs sounds huried, and setlist was not the best (no Origin, no Stuck, no Walk on, no bad). Finally, what really turned me off and everyone I was with was the "Bono world peace preaching". I really wish he would leave politics to a minimum and do what he does best which is sign and perform. In my opinion 'One' was totally ruined with the long intro (pre-recorded), with Bono spouting off about this and that...and he didn't end the song very well singing wise. Anyway - all they can do is improve from here...opening nights are tough for a lot of big bands (Stones, Bruce). I say more passion, less politics!
