Overall, the media reviews of the opening concert were uniformly positive, but the fan's reaction seemed to waver, especially for those who have seen U2 multiple times. Thus, I had a little bit of trepdidation for the 2nd show last night. But that was dispelled from the opening shimmer of City of Blinding Lights to the galvanizing Vertigo. All I can say is the show was exhilirating, awe-inspiring, and riveting!! From what I heard, as compared to opening night, Bono et al were more engaging and tighter, plus it didn't hurt to add Gloria and With of Without You. I thought the 7 songs from How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb were executed beautifully, and for me, the only slow spot was Zoo Station/The Fly.........
That being said, I have only seen U2 once before, circa 1983 when they were part of the US Festival with Bowie, Pretenders, etc....at that time selections from War was getting much airply, and you knew they were a band to be reckoned with. I can honestly say, with 22 years past, their glow has not dissipated a whit!!!!
