I have been a U2 fan for about fourteen years or so now (I am 20) and this show was my first ever U2 show. I must admit that I had some reservations about seeing U2 live. Being a fan for so long I thought I had some grand vision of a U2 concert. I was afraid of ruining that vision or having them ruin it for me by playing a bad show. I must say that the boys did not disappoint me in the least. I have heard a lot of talk about this show being the only show of the entire tour to not sell out, it did not seem to bother the band. They played passionately the entire night.
I must say that the way that they came on stage was very cool, with all the house lights on, it's awesome. They do Elevation very well, good way to start the show. Bono seemed a little off vocally but it did not dampen the preformance or the mood. I loved Until the End of the World, such a great live song, the duel between Bono and The Edge is fun to watch. You can definitely tell they love playing the song. I will follow was another of a multitude of highlights for me. The comments about playing at the Uptown theatre twenty years ago and not being able get a beer because he was too young were funny. Please was intense, and then came the biggest shocker of the night when in the middle of Bad Bono started singing When I Look at the World. This is my dad's favorite song on All That You Can't Leave Behind and he told me that he would love for them to play it. I told him that they had not played it all tour and to not expect it at this show. Needless to say, I was happy for my dad that he saw them play it even if it was as part of another song and only a portion of it. Streets was INCREDIBLE, I have always loved the way they have done the song with the long opening and to actually see it live was a thrill to say the least. I was glad to see that I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking for was played, I have a special affection for that song, it was the first song I ever learned all of the words to. The encores were so powerful, I don't think there was a dry eye in the house while the names of the victims of the World Trade Center attacks ran on the screen behind Larry during New York and One, a fitting tribute in my opinion.
It was a pleasure and an honor to be in the presence of this great band and I appreciate the opportunity.
