I went to the June 25th show as well but feel that even though the set lists were basically the same , that I saw two VERY DIFFERENT shows. I stood in GA for both. Maybe load in and sound check was rough but this show blew June 25th away. The energy and the vibe from the band was so much more inspirational and uplifting. As a U2 fan, I am aware of how spoiled I am from their setlists from 360 and before. The constant change was so exciting. It’s hard to not be disappointed by the new repetitive set lists from the last three tours. However with the technical elements as they are the need for consistency seems logical as well. Tonight’s show while repetitive in set list was able to conquer the monotony with an exchange of energy between the band and the audience that wasn’t there at Monday night’s show. It’s an esoteric idea but true nonetheless. Maybe because Bruce was there? Maybe because it was the third show at MSG? Maybe the audience response was more en pointe? Maybe just because people werent freakin moving around during the whole show constantly and seemed to just stand there/dance in one spot and enjoy the music and the tech show. Whatever the cause or combination of elements, tonight’s show reminded me why I keep coming.
