I'm a little late in posting my review, but still bubbling over from the show last thursday. I went with a good buddy of mine (scott a first time U2 concert for him) excited to see them on this tour, and for him to understand why I went to see so many shows on the elevation tour.
Once again they didn't dissapoint me. I really liked the opening with city of blinding lights, and the lighted curtains were just as incredible as I had read. I didn't feel the show had the same opening punch that Elevation did, but it didn't take long for me to become overwhelmed again.
This show seemed to move along quickly after each song, and I believe that helped keep the crowd going. Again, the light show was incredible the crowd totally into it. At one point during the show I thought this can't get any better, and it did when they played BAD! The guy beside me I think went into convolsions when BAD started and he inspired me :)
The lows for me were Damian Marley, it just didn't work as an opening band. For as much money as the tickets are, they should have a real good band to get the people there early. I wish the band had moved out on the elipse more too, they stayed too much on the main stage. And the tour shirts were once again over priced and not much better than the lame shirts they had for elevation. Highs for me on this show were: the opening with bono coming up at the front of the elipse. Streets as always was good, and it seemed like the arena took off when edge hit the first note. Electric Co was incredible and edge showed himself well. Really every song was great, with the exception of Mrs. Sarajevo, it could have been replaced easily. The point at which bono asked the crowd to open up there cell phones and just how it lit up the arena was cool.
Halfway through the show my buddy said, this is like a revival, and he was so right, I need this just about once a month.
I hope I can get tickets to the Charlotte show. I need to see them at least once more on this tour.
Oh and hats of to ETS for a great job on our preconcert party. We enjoyed hanging out at Kelly's before the show. Peace, Daniel
