On Sunday morning we woke up and drove to Red Rocks with some friends that had driven from San Diego. We took a boombox with the radio broadcast from Red Rocks and cranked the volume to ten from where we suppose the mix desk would be located. We mimed Out of Control from here and could hear the sound bouncing off the rocks! Twenty folks cheered and laughed...
What could I say about SBS that hasn't been said other than the best version out of thirty U2 concerts for me. The chant "no more, no war" was longer than Rattle n' Hum. During Bad where the movie substitues slo-mo of each member Bono was in the crowd. He was being supported on his back and feet by the audience, the segment where he sings no, no, no!!! he was writhing in abosolute conviction and was amazing.
I have to say that fate played a part in this: the late, great Patrick Perez came with me to both nights and is no longer with us. He posted on U2wire.com and was loved. It's good to see and remember him here.
