The weirdest thing in the world was sitting 20 feet from U2 in the stands straight to the Edge's side. U2 seem much smaller in real life! It's hard to imagine that they're actually normal sized people. I just thought that was totally strange.
Many claimed the Columbus show wasn't sold out. It certainly was. They didn't put the seats BEHIND the stage on sale even, and the band had a curtain behind them, which I thought was better actually than having people behind them.
As someone else posted on here, the sound was terrible. The band put on a flawless performance (and I stress FLAWLESS), but the sound crew had a rough night. Edge's guitar solo on "Bullet" about made me deaf.
This show was probably about twice as good as the popmart show I saw. Everything about it was just so perfect. Highlights include;
Elevation- It was amazing to see them actually doing their thing.
Stuck in a moment- Bono on the shakers
Gone- At one point, every member of the band was a different color. Awesome effect.
Kite- My fav song on the new album.
I will follow- I thought this song would be boring and dull, but it was one of the most energetic performances of the night. You can tell they really love playing it.
Stay- I always thought this ranked among U2's best. I'm glad it's getting played now.
Bad- Beautiful moment. Snippet of 40 at the end, though much of the audience didn't know the song 40. A sign that U2 is getting a younger fan base.
The fly- Rockin' version.
Walk on- Also another favorite from the new album. Great closer.
This was the best concert I've ever been to, and I've been to the Stones, Aerosmith, Tom Petty, Dave Matthews, Oasis, Creed, Sting, STP, and U2 in 1997....this blew away them ALL!!! Elevation tour is a force unmatched.
