Well my friends and I showed up to stand in line at the Pepsi Center at around 2 PM. We figured this would pretty much guarantee us a spot within the heart. Well as it turned out they closed the gate to the heart right as we were the next group to be let in. Initially we were very bummed…but it turned out to be a blessing. Instead of being in the heart we situated ourselves right outside the V of the heart. This proved to be the best place to be. Bono spent a great deal of time on that part of the stage and when he jumped into the crowd we were right there. Anyway, the show itself was awesome. The new tunes (“Elevation”, “Beautiful Day, “Stuck In a Moment”, “In A Little While”, and “Walk On”) sounded tight while the old ones (“Where The Streets Have No Name”, “Bad”, “With Or Without You”, “Sunday Bloody Sunday”) sounded as good as ever. Although I could have done without the performance of “New York”. “Kite” or “Wild Honey” might have been better choices from ATYCLB. While the lighting and video screens were definitely toned down from previous shows, when they were used they were used very well. The use of the video screens during “Mysterious Ways” was very cool. There were times in which Bono’s voice seemed to falter, but they were rare and really didn’t take away from the energy of the crowd. As an additional note on the GA seating…if you have GA tickets and don’t want to deal with the crush of the crowd (which you will deal with if you are at all close to the stage) I would recommend getting a spot in the back towards the mixing boards or in the heart if you are so luck. There was plenty of room on the floor as you got further towards the back as everyone kind of packs in tight closer to the stage. I was also told the view was actually really great from further back.
