Wow! What a night, what a show! U2 was definetely on top of there game. From start to finish the lads from Ireland rock-n-rolled a sell-out crowd at Pepsi Center in the "heart" of Denver.
Showing up at the tail-end of the opening act(PJ Harvey) it was an easy decision to skip the rest of her show and get in the beer line.
Upon entering the floor, it wasn't hard not to notice the stage was pretty bare compared to the "Zoo TV tour" and the "Pop-Mart" circus like appearance. Only a few screens high above stage and what appeared to be a big cat walk which Bono and the Edge would later prowl.
Then the show began. With the lights on, Elevation was a great way to get the crowd going. Then the well overplayed Beautiful Day and on to a favorite of mine 'Until the End of the World'. The show kept great pace w/new songs mixed in with clasics like like 'I Will Follow' 'New Year's Day'. 'Mysterious Ways' 'Bad' and a crowd favorite 'Sweetest Thing'. The only songs I would scrap from the show were 'Gone' from PoP and 'New York' from the new album. My only beef with the songs are that they were boring.
Then the end came with Bono and the boys grooving to 'Walk On'. The only fireworks going on all night was the music and four musicians who love there music and rock-n-roll. I can say there weren't any disapointments and the band was close to flawless.
U2 is back on top of the rock-n-roll scene and Im a fortunate bastard to have tickets for them in Phoenix.
