this was a *much-anticipated* show. after waiting four years since their last tour, i'd been spending much time prepping - watching dvds, listening to their entire catalog, reminiscing about the elevation tour and how amazing it was...
a friend and i got seats (thanks to another friend and the u2 membership perks) in the lower level reserved section. great view of the stage and not too far away. it was her first show and my third, so all i could do was tell her how much she'd love it. there is something very different about experiencing their music live as opposed to hearing it come out of a stereo or ipod.
the show was incredible. from the visual effects to the band's energy and the crowd's energy and the set list that included my all-time, undisputed, favorite song: "running to stand still"...i couldn't be happier.
i'd heard the band was switching off playing "city of blinding lights" and "love and peace" as their intro. "city" is my favorite off htdaab, but i have to say "love and peace" as an intro works much better. and the segue into "city" from "into the heart" with the whole bit with the little boy...anyone else who was there can attest to the magic in that moment.
i loved the show so much i wasn't satisfied with just the one. i needed to go again. so the next night i did. :)
