It's been over 15 years since I saw this gig, but I have very fond memories of it. It was my first time to see U2. I had been gutted at not being able to see U2 in my hometown of Cork in 1987 as we were on a family holiday in Spain. I also was not one of the lucky ones who saw them play for free in the Lee fields in Cork in 1985.
So when I finally did get to see them in the point depot, I was not disappointed. They opened the set with Streets. I was on the right hand side of the stage on the upper level. The Edge fell over during Streets having run across the stage from his side to ours (left hand side of stage to right). But he carried on playing!! Bono's voice was amazing and the atmosphere was electric. All songs were great but the biggst surprise came when they started playing Two Hearts Beat As One. A song they hadn't played much since the War tour I think. And I don't think they've played it much since.
BB King was the support act and was excellent aslo. Maria McKee joined U2 for People Get Ready which was nice.
It was the first time I saw them, but would not be the last.
