I was one of those next to the outer ring, center stage area. I had hoped that by being there I'd be part of, and feel, the raw energy/excitement that I've witnessed on U2 videos. However, I noticed the same thing as did another reviewer of this show (bouke's), that the crowd’s energy appeared to be only inside the circle. Maybe, to some degree it was where I was but honestly it was not what I had hoped for. I had hoped that the Toronto crowd would be ready to release the energy U2 knows how to draw from a crowd. For example, get all the crowd around us to just jump and sing. By contrast, I thought the energy from the Vertigo ACC show I attended had more of that. I agree with the other reviews that it finally came, but not in a way that has you buzzing after a show. Pride might have done more to jazz up the crowd but I liked how they played Blue Room.
Still, enough of the what I expected. What I got was to witness an amazing spectacle. Loved and thought Unforgettable Fire was great. And that being there was very worth it. I do feel that I witnessed a truly a top flight show. The band is in top shape. Perhaps, the crowd isn`t as nimble or energetic as we once were.
