Another disappointment for this Los Angeles fan. I have seen U2 countless times over their past five tours, and this was probably the worst show I have ever seen. I saw six Vertigo shows in the Spring - all of them were much better than tonight's.
For starters, the opening acoustic segment of the encore was horrid. I much prefer the rip-roaring Achtung-ness of Zoo, Fly, or even Mysterious. Maybe they should bring back the notion of PopMart within a Vertigo show and star doing Discotheque again - or maybe the much-rumored Mofo.
also, Larry Mullen was very weak tonight. He is slowly becoming my least favorite member of the band. He's always grimacing and looking bored and annoyed. Tonight was no exception - Elevation, L & P, Miracle, and Sarajevo were all terrible. I tell you - if I had 500 mil in the bank, I'd think twice about being angry all the time.
I love U2, but tonight's show was stinky.
