My 7th of the tour and 15th overall was one of the best U2 shows I have seen/heard. I had great fanclub seats in the first row on Adam's side with my sister, who hadn't seen them since 1997 in the Kingdome in Seattle. She was blown away and is a fan more than ever.
On a side note: We had some pretty lame people around us that literally sat down the entire show, left for extended periods of time only to return with beers and nachos. During Streets and Bad, they sat the entire time. They obviously weren't in the fan club and probably just wanted to have a hot ticket and had the money to pay for scalped tickets on Ebay. Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.
Before the show began, we noticed a lot of heads on the GA floor looking up our way. What was everybody looking at? Suddenly, we saw a ton of flash bulbs go off. Oh, it was Cindy Crawford taking her seat one section over form us. She didn't mind the attention. Supposedly, Val Kilmer and Orlando Bloom were in the audience. The previous night, Salma Hayek stood right next to me on the GA floor and somebody that looked exactly like Jennifer Aniston stopped by to giver her a hug. Ah, L.A.
Anyways, the energy was great tonight. I had a great closeup view of Bono and I could see the "wow' look on his face several times. A couple times, he'd comment on how it wasn't really a Wednesday night, but a Saturday night. I loved hearing MLK (dedicated to Rosa Parks) for the first time. The acoustic version of Walk On and Wild Horses were awesome (plugged in during the latter half). I was especially impressed on how well "Walk On" translated acoustically. I wish EXIT would've come up on stage again because they rocked the house the previous night.
I was hoping for "Bad" the entire night and when I heard the first strains of the keyboard, I lept up in joy. My sister couldn't believe I picked out the song within 2 seconds. I think it is a great closer. Though the song in nature is quite sad, it has a very uplifiting mood that sticks with you for hours, if not days.
So, another U2 tour ends for me. Thanks U2 and I'll see you in 4 years or so.
