I travelled all the way from Seattle to see the show since U2 weren't coming to the Northwest for this third leg. It was to be my 8th U2 show since 1992. Since I could visit a good friend who lived in San Diego and stay with my sister in L.A...I justified the trip down...three birds with one stone! Thanks to Propaganda, I had tickets for the floor. The line to get in was an adventure when the rain and wind came. Thanks to KROQ for letting us use their banner to keep dry. Anyway my San Diego friend and I got into the heart (my second time in the heart...the first time was in Portland). I was pleasantly surprised by "No Doubt"...I now have a new respect for them. Lots of energy and enthusiasm! The bass player was also wearing an "old school" U2 shirt (looked circa 1985). The anticipation before U2 come out on stage is so incredible. When that first note of the "Influx Mix" started, the crowd went nuts. An incredible beginning to a concert. Everybody was jumping and doing the elevation "whoo hoos"! I was praying that they would play "Out of Control" instead of "I Will Follow" and when I heard Adam play the first notes, I knew instantly and went nuts. It's one of my all time favorite songs and feel fortunate to have finally heard it. Soundwise, the mix was great. My ears weren't even ringing the next day and I didn't even have to use my ear plugs. As for the setlist, I had no complaints...They played 7 songs that I hadn't heard on this tour yet (Kite, Out of Control, Still Haven't Found, What's Going On, Angel of Harlem, Please and People get Ready). I would've liked to have heard "All I Want Is You" and "Stay", but maybe next time. I must say that they should retire "Pride" and "Bullet". All in all, another fantastic U2 concert experience! I'm looking forward to getting the DVD and seeing them on Leno this week!
