All I can say is...
There isn't anything left for me to say that would do justice to seeing U2 in my hometown on Oct 15, 2001. I went to 2 Chicago shows in May and thought that nothing, not even another U2 show, could top May 15th. I had 100 level seats a little further from the tip of the heart. Now, I wasn't even planning on going to this show because I had GA floor for the next night, and the prices were a little steep. I finally caved and thought, what the hell? What made this concert different from the May shows, which were also excellent, was the raw emotion that I not only saw being displayed by all 4 band members, but also by the crowd around me. Bono said at the start of the show that Chicago is starting to feel like a hometown gig and there isn't anywhere else he would rather be. This made the crowd go wild and the intensity never let up. Even if the crowd wasn't yelling and screaming at times, I could still look around and see that their full heartfelt attention was on the song and its performers. That's what made the concert for me. Sometimes silence says things that shouting can't. I'd have to say that the Bad-Streets combo will always be my personal favorite, but I really enjoy Elevation as an opener and Walk On as that final dot on the exclamantion point. Now, I thought that this U2 concert would be the finest I would see, but again they proved me wrong...(See Tuesday).
