On what started out as a beautiful August day in Kettering, Ohio at the Fraze Pavilion, my husband and I were sitting on the lawn near the stage, sipping our wine, when in roared a Harley with a tall hansom blonde man whom looked over at us and said hello. We were there to see Emmylou Harris and Shawn Colvin. After enjoying Shawn Colvin, Emmylou came out soon after. That night she introduced all the musicians that would be playing and singing along with her and then she announced she had a special drummer, he talks kindof funny, I'm pleased to introduce Larry Mullen, Jr. from the band U2! I couldn't believe my ears or my eyes. He was the same man that had said hello to us earlier. We watched Emmylou, Larry Mullen, and many other talented musicians perform when about half way through the show the skies grew very dark with clouds and thunder and terrential pouring rain. Most of the people left the pavilion, except a small number of us stayed. Emmylou and her band were covered under a roof. We on the other hand sat in our orchestra seats with blankets above our heads in the pouring rain. She spoke directly with us, her small audience and said if your willing to sit in this rain we will continue playing for you. The night was wet but it sure was awesome. Larry Mullen's energy, talent and aura he perpetuates were amazing. He put every ounce of energy into Emmylou's music, you would have thought that he belonged to her band. We had a wonderful night in the rain, listening to Shawn Colvin, Emmylou and her Spy Boys and enjoying the special treat of seeing and hearing Larry Mullen out of his usual element. Thanks Larry........GodSpeed........Lady Di
