U2 Experience and Innocence in Los Angeles, first time seeing them at The Forum. Not quite sure what to expect after last years amazing Joshua Tree tour in which I had the good fortune of seeing 3 times.
This tour is more a personal Bono story, beginning with his MRI in the opening number of Love Is All We Have Left from a recent life changing health scare. I think the new material sounded fresh and was presented and received well by the sold out crowd. Hearing Gloria again was amazing, and as much as I love songs from The Joshua Tree, it took guts from the band not to roll out favorites like Streets or With Or Without You.
The staging as usual was excellent as we have come to expact with U2. I heard a few complaints in the way out on the setlist choices. I guess if I had never seen them before, I could understand the complaints and lack of the big hits, but I appreciated hearing the new material presented and the story told first hand. Thanks to Bono, Edge, Larry and Adam for well over 30 years of amazing music and concert dates. This was my 18th time seeing them since 1987, and it never gets old. Hope to see them next time around!
