Great show as usual; we have been going to shows since Joshua Tree, and are finding that these shows (Pittsburgh and Cleveland are the two we've seen) are as powerful as those. Edge's guitar is SO much more muscular than it used to be even a couple of years ago, and Bono's voice, especially when he opens his throat and chest on the Pavarotti part in Miss Sarajevo, is as strong as ever--and more studied, too. A disappointingly muddy sound system where we were sitting (Section 228, in the nosebleeds) but still a great show. Some favorite moments: "Gloria" for the first time in ANY show that we've seen; Bono's fatherly gesture of sticking out his hand for the gum of the child he chose to sing "No More" in Sunday Bloody Sunday--he stuck that wad of sticky mess in his pocket without missing a beat. I also loved With or Without You's neck-nuzzling fan--she was obviously transported and could not do much other than cuddle her face into Bono's neck--that is until he knelt down and sang the rest of the song to the area of her crotch. Lucky girl, I'd say!!

Disappointments--No I Will Follow/Electric Co. combo--THAT was GREAT in P'burgh--their ability to take those old songs and make them new, still keeping the original punk feeling and improving the guitar parts SO MUCH just blew us away last time. Also disappointed not to get to hear Bad during EITHER show, but Instant Karma sort of made up for that. We are still holding out for Drowning Man at some future show; still hoping that maybe they'll see its dramatic potential and resurrect it.

Great show; we also met lots of REAL U2 fans at Flannery's Irish Pub beforehand and at our hotel. Can't wait to see them again. . .here's hoping.
