U2 begins the Latin American leg of the tour with two shows in Mexico City -- their first in the city since the 360 tour, and their first at Foro Sol since PopMart 20 years ago. A day earlier, Bono tells fans outside the venue that U2 is filming these shows and fans are greeted with signs confirming that as they enter for tonight's show.
The shows come just a couple weeks after the region was devastated by major earthquakes, and U2 announces before the shows that it'll donate some of the proceeds from these concerts to help with relief efforts.
The set list is similar to previous shows on the tour, with the obvious exception of the last song of the night: "Spanish Eyes," which the band plays in full out on the b/tree stage. The song, which is usually reserved for shows in Spain, has never been played before in Mexico. Tonight is the first time it's been performed outside Spain since the original Joshua Tree tour in 1987, and only the 18th time it's been played in full.
