There weren’t many changes to the show for U2’s first show in Australia on the tour. Last night was their only show in Brisbane in 2019, but their 10th show overall in that city. There were a few new snippets added to songs, including Midnight Oil’s “Bed’s Are Burning” in reference to the wildfires on the east coast of Australia. Overall, the show was identical to their first performance in Auckland, with “Every Breaking Wave” returning to the set. The crowd was energetic, prompting Bono to refer to them as the band’s “drug of choice.”
This tour marks U2’s first visit to the continent since 2006, so Bono took the opportunity to thank the crowd for their patience. “"Thank you Brisbane for letting us back into your lives. Thank you Australia for letting us back into your country. You've always been so good to us.” Finally, the Luminous Icons display during “Ultraviolet (Light My Way” was updated a number of prominent Australian women.
