Comments: U2 headline the first night of the 2016 iHeartRadio Music Festival. The band opens with a scorching version of "Desire" that makes a grand political statement against Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. In the middle of the song, a video of Trump is shown as he tells a politically rally that "the American dream is dead," while Bono says to the audience, "What have you got to lose? Everything!" Fake money pours down from the ceiling during the song, similar to an effect U2 used when they played "Desire" on the Zoo TV tour.

Bono namechecks Brandon Flowers of The Killers during "Beautiful Day," and dedicates "Every Breaking Wave" to Ryan Tedder, who's in the audience and whose band, One Republic, played earlier in the night.

The printed setlist had a ninth song that U2 didn't play for unknown reason(s): "With Or Without You" was supposed to close the set after "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For."
