Comments:

The show begins with a new entrance: Rather than entering the stage to "Beat On The Brat," U2 comes on after "People Have The Power" by Patti Smith ... and ... Bono appears first out on the E-stage, rather than the main stage where the rest of the band appears. Bono leads the very willing audience through the "oh-oh-ohs" of "The Miracle" while walking to the main stage, and the song kicks in after he gets there. The audience responds well to U2's new songs, as "Iris," "Cedarwood Road" and "Song For Someone" each get a solid welcome.

In the second set, Bono brings a trio of sisters on stage for "Mysterious Ways," and they playfully dance and sing with both Bono and The Edge. The girls stay on stage and do the live stream video cam during "Desire." The fun continues with the next song when, after the band starts playing "Sweetest Thing," Bono tells the crowd that a fan had asked them to play "In God's Country." The band stops and gathers itself for a moment, while Bono finds the fan who made the request and brings him on stage. The fan totally steals the show at this point, jumping around and enthusiastically hugging each band member -- except Larry, who comically holds up his drum sticks in a "stay away" pose. The fan gets an acoustic guitar and, after some coaching from Bono, the band plays a full version of "In God's Country" for the first time since December 2, 2001. The fan almost stays on stage for "Sweetest Thing," but Bono escorts him off and the band then proceeds to do a very fun and ragged version of the song. The second set ends with a handful of U2's biggest hits, and the Phoenix audience eats it up. They're loud and on their feet and into every song, and U2 responds to the energy with powerful performances of "Pride," "Bad" and "With Or Without You."

At 25 songs, it's the longest show of the tour so far. A photographer is seen on stage at various points throughout the show taking pictures of the band and audience, perhaps for future promotional material (and maybe the European tour book).
