Comments: U2 return to Amsterdam for the first of two nights, and despite a later start of almost 9 PM, the stadium has already been quite dark for some time -- the roof is in place, and the stadium is draped in black sheets and black inflatable baffles, the latter having been introduced in recent concerts at this venue due to complaints about the sound quality.

The guest list is as usual extensive. Bono reports from stage that his elder brother Norman Hewson is in attendance, and celebrity spotting includes Anton Corbijn.

A very receptive audience enjoys "Mysterious Ways," which is usually reserved for night 2 of double-header venues on this tour, with Bono on his knees at one point filming a female audience member while she dances on stage.

A recording of "Red Hill Mining Town" from this show is released in October 2017 on the "The Joshua Tree: New Roots" covers album.
