Comments:

U2's last of five shows in Chicago includes just the second performance of "Gloria" of this tour, and the second in the past three shows. Larry loses a drumstick about halfway through the song, but luckily it lands in his lap and he's able to continue ... pardon the pun ... while barely missing a beat. (See the 1:50 mark of our video.)

Kaylin, a young fan from Mississippi is brought on stage during "Mysterious Ways" and stays to do the Meerkat video during "California." Speaking of which, it's only the third full performance of "California" of the tour, and the first since May 26th.

The crowd, which seemed a bit mellow to this observer for much of the show, completely lets loose for "Pride" and pretty much erupts when "Bad" begins. Before "Streets," Bono praises chef Mario Batali for his work with (RED) -- Batali is at the show and watching from the Red Zone at this point with ex-R.E.M. bassist Mike Mills.

Prior to "40," a fan tosses Bono a Patrick Kane Chicago Blackhawks jersey, prompting Bono to quote a Bruce Springsteen song when he jokes, "Adam raised a Cain!" The show closes with "40," its first performance since Montreal on June 17th. Bono dedicates the song to Jerry Garcia -- the Grateful Dead's remaining original members are about to play their final three shows together in the city to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary.

U2's families are at the show, and several watch from inside the Red Zone.
