U2 returns to TD Garden and Boston proper for the first time since the I+E tour in 2015. They played outside the city, in Foxboro, last year on the Joshua Tree 2017 tour.
Tonight’s “Beautiful Day” namecheck is “…see Giselle and Tom right in front of you” for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and his wife, model Gisele Bündchen.
“I spray painted the first lady's coat, but she still wore it anyway!" is MacPhisto's comment on First Lady Melania Trump’s coat from earlier in the day, turning out to be his most timely of the tour so far.
Commenting on the current crisis happening at the US-Mexico border, Bono sings “…one boy at a border fence…” altering the lyrics to “Pride.”
Before “13,” Bono wishes Irish poet Paul Muldoon a happy birthday and recites his poem “Hedgehog.”
